History of the
lure.
How the Cedar Basseater was born.
Having been a woodworker all my life and having a passion for bass fishing, it was only a matter of
time before the two collaborated. Being an avid topwater fisherman it did not take much thought as
to what type of lure to create.
Cedar was the most obvious choice of wood since it is very buoyant, and easily carved and shaped. I
was pretty excited on the completion of my first "the original" lure.
I fished a local club tournament not long after the lure was finished. I won the tournament with a
solid five fish limit, all caught on my Cedar Basseater. The rest is history. My fellow competitors
wanted their own Cedar Basseaters. I started making them for retail sales, expanding my color
selections and introducing a cedar spook into the line up. It took a lot of work and research to
get the bugs ironed out but I am proud to have it in my selection of handcrafted topwater
lures.
I will never forget winning that first tournament with my handcrafted lure. It always brings a good
feeling when I catch a big fish on one of my lures. I hope you enjoy fishing your handcrafted Cedar
Basseater lures as much as I enjoy fishing mine.
Good fishing and thanks for supporting a small business producing one product at a time.
Sincerely,
Hawk Myczack
